Free Historical Patterns
As three baby boys have been added to our family over the past few years, I have found myself needing to make clothing items for them for both "fun" and for our 1860's Civil War reenactments. Although there are some wonderful patterns on the market for children (most especially the ones by Elizabeth Stewart Clark) our budget has been tight and I haven't had the extra money needed to buy fabric and patterns. I began to make my own and although my first attempts were not very good I have found each successive pattern gets easier to make. Here I would like to share some of the ones I most often use for my babies. Also there are a few patterns for other things. I have quite a few more patterns to eventually post, including items for women and children from the regency, victorian and edwardian eras.If any of these patterns do not work for you (I am not sure how well scanning the patterns and posting them on the net works and have been afraid of discrepencies in size) please email me and I would be happy to email you the pattern files or send a paper copy for the cost of postage and paper.
Love,
Sarah

Just found your blog, and I love it! I am also a graduated homeschooler with 4 children. I have 2 blogs, one of which is based on the writings of Laura Ingalls Wilder.

I would love to link to your blog for all the ladies wishing to make costumes from that time period. I'll be back when I have more time to browse!
Thanks for all the free patterns! I am bookmarking this blog for sure! :-)
This is so awesome. I've seen this page before, but have never clicked all the links! I've just got to go link to you now! :)
I ran across your blog this evening while trying to find some kind of pattern to copy for my son's pants. I have made 2 pair in the past but, they just got by. I was wondering if you have any suggestions for boys pants as well as a vest and hat. I can make shirts, dresses, undergarments, and bonnets, but pants elude me...it seems the simplest of things too. Any help you have would be a blessing thank you. We are getting ready for Shiloh!
